Representatives of four B&H parliaments today concluded a working visit to the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, organized within the framework of the “Modernizing Entity Parliaments and Brčko District Assembly for Europe” project, supported by the OSCE Mission to B&H and the Embassy of the United Kingdom in B&H.
“This timely-organized working visit will be useful for our delegation to improve the quality of rulebooks on internal organization and the systematization of posts in our parliaments,” said Ramiz Zahirović, President of the Administrative Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of B&H.
“The exchange of experiences between the parliaments is of utmost importance. After our independence, the Slovenian Parliament also learned from other parliaments. And we are still learning. Though this visit was primarily intended for us to demonstrate our modus operandi, I think we also learned a lot from our B&H colleagues,” said Mojca Prelesnik, Secretary General of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia.
The one-day visit enabled senior executives and members of four parliaments in B&H (the Parliamentary Assembly of B&H, the RS National Assembly, the Parliament of the Federation of B&H and the Brčko District Assembly) to become acquainted with the organization and function of services in an EU member state parliament, learn about the necessary structural changes needed to increase the transparency and effectiveness of work, and establish closer working relationships with their Slovenian counterparts.
“Qualitative and simple solutions for the organization of the entire parliamentary work brought great savings to the National Assembly of Slovenia, which are also needed in B&H,” said Ferid Buljubašić, Secretary of Common Services of the B&H Parliamentary Assembly.
