Residents of Livno made the largest Serving of Cevaps in the World

Like most young people from this area, Vilim Rubić is working and living in Germany. However, unlike previous guest workers, he knew that he would not see his retirement there.

“But it was a goal that we would return after a certain time until some things were settled and so on, but we were in Frankfurt for 10 years, working, and last year in the second month we returned,” says Rubić.

He also started a business in his Livno. With the “Portion of cevapi for people of Livno” project, he participated in Livno summer and made the largest portion in the world. The goal was a somun (flat bread) with 2,600 kebabs.

“Certainly over 2,600 because we baked 67 kilos, that means almost 2,700.” And it came about because we were looking for the best way to advertise the cevap shop, to make it more local. Let’s honor the citizens, our fellow citizens and break that record,” adds Rubić.

And they succeeded. Neither the heat of the grill, nor the smoke, nor the cevaps that burned their hands while putting them together could spoil the satisfaction and pride of Vilim, his wife and hard-working employees.

“The support of the whole city, the support of the whole team, a big challenge, but it was very interesting and it was pleasant to work. I’m speechless, I expected it to be a little more difficult, but it went so smoothly that it’s unbelievable,” said Saima Hodžić, an employee at the cevap shop.

“A great feeling, it was uncertain whether we would be able to bake everything, everything will be fine, but I am very satisfied. The children made me the most happy that they were in the front rows, and that was great for me,” emphasized Bruno Trboglav, an employee of the ćevabdžinica.

“It means a lot to me, it’s a part, currently a part of some history here and who knows when this record will be broken next time,” says Danis Hodžić, an employee at the čevabdžinica.

Before they served the attendees a grilled delicacy, we took photos of them as a souvenir.

The city supported them financially, and the almost four-square-meter bun was baked and donated by the bakery in Livno.
