[wzslider autoplay=”true”] Older lovers of motor sports are well-familiar with the name Behdzet Mutevelic.
Popular Bedzo was one of the representatives of Sarajevo racing team that rocked in the former Yugoslavia in the late ’60s and early ‘70s, and it was consisted of Sejo Alihodzic, Miroslav Nosse, Fadil Kadic, Makso Kapetanovic…
Besides excellent results of its drivers, Sarajevo was the host of many races and competitions, where Jahorina Rally should be especially noted as well as circular race (first streets of the city, and then at the airport).
On the yellowed photographs you can see Mutevelic’s Fiat 124 Coupe in a curve, with the crowd in the background on a circular race, which was followed, according to some estimates, by 80,000 people.
Behdzet Mutevelic achieved the biggest success ofhis career in 1970 by winning the third place in the overall Championship of Yugoslavia, in the rally in the class over 1600 cc.
Mutevelic (his co-driver was Perisa Zaric) in 2002 won 330 points in the BMW, and better were only Mladen Gluhak from Zagreb (BMW 2002) and Branimir “Dzo” Peric from Belgrade (Mazda R-100).
The best result of the season Mutevelic and Zaric achieved on Jahorina by winning the second place.
The famous Jahorina Rally was revived in recent years, and last night, starting at 6 pm, a new edition started in front of BBI center, with the participation of 20 crews.
And curiosity is that at the start will be winners of the second place from 46 years ago – Behdzet Mutevelic and Perisa Zaric! Main driver recently turned 80, and his co-driver 81! But they are still adrenaline addicts and they will compete in the great Renault Clio RS (200 hp) with much younger competitors.
