The Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNK) organizes the “Konjic Food Fest” food festival this year, which is attracting great interest from exhibitors and visitors.

The opening of the Food Festival, which will be held on October 5 at the Partizanovo Sports Center, will be preceded by the signing of the Agreement on Cooperation between the City of Konjic and the Federal Institute for Agropedology in Sarajevo, in order for cooperation and partnership to take place at a higher level.

“Preparations are in the final stage and we hope that everyone who visits this year’s Konjic food fest will enjoy the delicacies that will be found at the stands with processed fruit, vegetables, bee products, sweets, dairy and meat products, teas,”  said in the name of the organizer of the Union of Agricultural Associations Konjic Alma Huseinbegović Radmanić.

She added that a part of the festival that attracts a lot of attention is the competition of young chefs, who are educated in Konjic, and who this year will show their knowledge and skills in preparing apple pie.

“Through the presentation of domestic products grown in the Konjic area and processed products that are produced on the farms of our valuable agricultural producers, we strive to support everyone who is concerned about producing healthy food that we consume every day. The fact that in addition to young chefs, Konjic also has young agricultural producers is pleasing,” she said.

Wanting to progress in the field his family is engaged in, which produces tomatoes, onions and other vegetables on the farm in the Gorani settlement, Senid Graho, a young man from Konji, enrolled in the Agricultural Technical School.

“I inherited some abilities from my parents, but I want to progress so that I can produce my own food that I don’t have to buy. I think that Konjic has great potential, which we could develop, of course only if a sufficient number of people are engaged and have the desire to team. The food we produce here is very good, and in my opinion, it differs a lot from other areas in terms of quality, because we have good conditions for production. The festival is a good opportunity for everyone to see what kind of products we have, so I tell those interested to be in Konjic in October,” said Graho.

He added that it is a nice feeling when he sees his success in growing fruits and vegetables.

The students of the Agricultural School said that they have their own greenhouse where they grow vegetables.

“Apart from home, we practically also work at school, because we have a greenhouse where we grow vegetables under the supervision of professors, who try to master everything that is needed in an interesting way. We also participate in the Food Festival, where there will be many producers who will show everything that is produced in our area”, emphasized students Aner Herić and Ajla Memidžan.

According to professor Dženana Buturović, the interest of students enrolled in this high school has increased in recent years.

“Awareness of food and its importance is rising more and more. We should be proud of our local products that we have and which are recognizable for their quality. I sincerely hope that in the future we will have continuity in the education of young people in this area and that their interest will continue grow. Along with the Days of Agriculture in the City of Konjic, the Konjic Food Fest is an opportunity for everyone who has not prepared winter food to get it from our valuable producers,” said Professor Buturović, Klix.ba reports.
