penzioneriA roundtable on the topic ‘Law Against Discrimination in B&H-position of the elderly in the community: practices and perspectives’ is announced for today in Sarajevo organized by the Association Otvori oči” and Heinrich Boll Stiftung.

The aim is to exchange information on experiences and practices in the exercise of rights of older people, in accordance with the prohibitions on discrimination in the light of national legislation and international standards, reports Fena.

‘’It is evident that in B&H the number of elderly is on the rise and that the treatment of these people is completely marginalized, thus opening the space for different types of discrimination to which this vulnerable group is exposed. There are especially discriminatory practices on people older than 50, who are still of working age, and the transition process in B&H has caused a lot of people in this group to be in an undefined status.

It is therefore important for participants at the roundtable to attempt to point out the possible modalities and ways of finding solutions to animate the politicians and government in creating a more favorable environment for the realization of human rights for older people, said the organizers in a statement.
