On Friday, at the 36th telephone session, the Management Board of the Compensation Fund of the Republika Srpska approved the payment of two million BAM for the repair of damage caused by African swine fever.
“The funds will be directed to the purchase of healthy animals in the threatened and infected area, in an effort to provide sufficient quantities of domestic agricultural products and alleviate disruptions on the market,” it was announced after the session of the Management Board of the Compensation Fund.
It is stated that the money will be paid based on individual decisions that will be made by the Agency for Agrarian Payments for each business entity and natural person.
“This measure was taken with the aim of repairing the economic damage caused by African swine fever suffered by producers from the endangered and infected area, and on whose farms African swine fever was not detected by animal blood sampling,” the announcement states.
The approved funds will subsidize the purchase of healthy pigs from these areas, in such a way that the producers will receive 50 percent of the estimated value of the pigs, while the remaining 50 percent will be provided by the purchasers.
