RS Government: Dodik’s Verdict unconstitutional and Politically motivated

The Government of Republika Srpska resolutely rejects and does not accept the second-instance verdict of the Court of BiH against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, “because it is legally null and void, unconstitutional and politically motivated” – this is the conclusion adopted by the Government of Republika Srpska today at a special session in Banja Luka after considering oral information regarding the second-instance verdict of the Court of BiH.

The Government of Republika Srpska believes, as stated in the adopted conclusions, that the verdict against the President of Republika Srpska is “a verdict against the entire Serbian people in BiH, which threatens the equality and survival of the Serbian people throughout BiH and directly nullifies the basic principles guaranteed by the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, to which Republika Srpska is one of the contracting parties”.

– The Government of Republika Srpska recalls that the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, in its conclusions of 25.12.2024. expressed the view that the unconstitutional Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the Court of BiH are conducting a politically rigged process against the President of the RS, who acted exclusively in accordance with the constitutional and legal authorities and obligations within the framework of the legislative procedure carried out by the National Assembly of the RS – the conclusions state.

They express their commitment to the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, stating “that a democratic BiH is only sustainable in which the position of the entity Republika Srpska is defined by the Constitution of BiH and the Constitution of the RS and in which only voters can decide who their legitimate and legal representatives are”.

– The Government of the RS states that the Federation of BiH, as the other contracting party to the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, by its support for the unconstitutional judicial institutions of BiH in issuing an unconstitutional and illegal verdict against the President of the RS, has placed the Republika Srpska in an unequal position, which has violated the basic principles of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH on the equality of the contracting parties – the conclusions of the Government of the RS state.

They call on all relevant political actors and citizens of the RS to “at a time when there is an attempt to forcibly collapse the institution of the President of the RS, impose colonial rule and silence democracy, not to accept the deprivation of the right to vote of the Serbian people and other peoples in BiH and to resolutely and clearly stand behind their democratically and directly elected President of the Republika Srpska”.

As the RS Government announced, in accordance with their constitutional competences and the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, they will continue to take measures and activities aimed at preserving the institutions of the Republika Srpska, peace and security of all citizens in the RS.
