Ukraine said it shot down 71 Russian drones overnight Friday in the biggest drone attack on the Ukrainian capital since the invasion began.
The city administration of Kyiv announced that five people were wounded, including an 11-year-old child.
“The Air Force destroyed 71 Shahed 131/136 aggressor drones. The vast majority of them were destroyed in the Kyiv region,” the Air Force announced on social media.
“The aerial alert in the city lasted for six hours, and the debris from the drones caused fires and damaged buildings throughout the capital,” said Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko.
He added that the enemy continues to terrorize.
The attack happened on a day when Ukraine commemorates the Holodomor – the starvation of millions of people in 1930s Ukraine under Soviet leader Joseph Stalin.
