Russia has imposed a permanent entry ban on Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwata, in a response to Japan’s continued sanctions against Russia over the war in Ukraine.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the move also blacklisted Japan’s ambassador to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome, former ambassador Kuninori Matsuda, and senior officials at the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The bans on entry to Russia were also imposed on the heads of major Japanese corporations, including IHI Corporation, ISUZU Motors, Prodrone, and Cyberdyne.
Moscow accused Tokyo of pursuing an anti-Russian course under Western pressure and warned of further consequences if Japan continued its restrictive policy.
Japan has imposed multiple packages of sanctions on Russia since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022, targeting officials, financial institutions, and key industries, AA writes.
