Sarajevo Experiencing Tourism Boom: 34.6 Percent More Overnight Stays Recorded

Excellent results this year confirm that Sarajevo Canton is an increasingly popular destination on the tourism map of the region and the world.

The Tourism Community of Sarajevo Canton reports exceptionally positive trends. In March 2026, there were 12.7 percent more arrivals and as much as 34.6 percent more overnight stays in comparison to the same period last year.

This growth clearly shows longer tourist stays and a richer offerthat meets the needs of today’s travelers.

Positive trends also continue in the first quarter as well. In the first three months of 2026, there were 4.4 percent more arrivals and 25.4 percent more overnight stays compared to the same period in 2025.

Most guests arrive from Croatia, Turkey, Serbia, China, Germany, the U.S., Montenegro, the United Kingdom, Slovenia, and Italy.

The highest number of overnight stays was recorded by guests from Turkey, Croatia, Serbia, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Montenegro, China, the U.S., the United Kingdom, and Italy.

These data confirm the continuous growth of tourism traffic and the increasingly strong international recognition of Sarajevo and Sarajevo Canton as destinations offering authentic experiences, safety, and top hospitality.
