Sabina Cudic Is The New President Of Our Party: I Will Demand Honesty, Courage And Stubborn Resistance To Primitivism

At the Third Extraordinary Congress of Our Party, the delegates elected Sabina Cudic as president.

Cudic succeeded Edin Forto in this position, who has held this office since 2021.

Our Party announced that Cudic is taking over the leadership of the party at an important political moment, with the goal of strengthening progressive, civic politics and the fight for the rule of law and equality.

On the occasion of her election, she thanked the delegates at the Congress for the trust they showed her and pointed out some of the guidelines for the party’s future work:

“Our Party remains consistent with its principles: the fight for a just society, for the equality of all citizens, regardless of ethnic or social affiliation. I believe in the power of politics that does not submit to blackmail, in politics that builds institutions, not leaders. At the same time, we continue to strengthen the international presence of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). We have shown that our vision of BiH has partners throughout Europe and the world. Our fight for democracy and the rule of law is recognized and supported by relevant international actors, and we will use that to open new opportunities for BiH.

You nominated me as president of Our Party, and you have expectations of me. I will do everything to meet those expectations. At the same time, from us I expect, I demand what makes us people worthy of trust: honesty as a daily obligation towards ourselves, towards citizens, towards the common good. I demand courage. Not only to speak the truth, but to live the truth, even when it is not popular, when it hurts, when it costs. And finally, I demand that without which no change is possible: stubborn resistance to primitivism, to everything that pulls us backward, that incites, that offends reason and dignity,” said Cudic.

Edin Forto also addressed the Congress, emphasizing that he is proud of the party’s results during his presidential term.

“I am proud of what we achieved in the past four years, of the stabilization of the party, its growth, and its key role at all levels of government. It is time for new leadership that will bring new energy and ideas. Sabina Cudic is a proven leader, dedicated to the values that make Our Party different. She has my full support,” he stated.

Sabina Cudic is one of the more recognizable faces of Our Party. She was also the vice-president of the party and president of the Main Board. She was also a cantonal and federal representative, and is currently a representative in the state parliament. She has significant political experience at the international level as well, specifically in the Council of Europe, where she is a member of the Parliamentary Assembly, vice-president of the European Liberals, and rapporteur for Georgia.
