Salary covers 50 Percent of Consumer Basket in Bosnia

The trade union consumer basket calculated by the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Bosnia and Herzegovina for November 2020 amounts to 1,918.53 BAM and is 139.39 BAM more expensive than the consumer basket for the previous month.

The average salary paid in the Federation of BiH for September 2020 was 961 BAM (last data published by the Federal Bureau of Statistics) and is by 12 BAM higher than the average salary paid in July 2020.

The coverage of the Trade Union Consumer Basket with an average salary is 50.09 percent .

When making the Trade Union Consumer Basket, the average salary paid in the Federation of BiH was taken into account, as well as the minimum living costs of a family of four consisting of two adults and two children, one of whom is in high school and the other in primary school.

The consumer basket consists of food – 46.2 percent, housing and communal services – 16.2 percent, hygiene and health maintenance – eight percent, education and culture – 5.7 percent, clothing and footwear – 10.4 percent, transportation – 7, 2 percent and household maintenance – 6.3 percent. In the food category, prices from three shopping centers were used for 86 items.

When it comes to hygiene and maintaining health, the costs for 12 items are included, and for housing and communal services, the costs for six items, the SSSBiH stated.
