Sanda Dubravčić Will Ignite Olympic Flame in Sarajevo Again

olympics1984The celebrated skater from the 1980’s and the person who lit the Olympic flame at the Olympic Stadium in Koševo on 8 February 1984, thus signaling the start of the XIV Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, confirmed her arrival at the Olympic Committee of B&H at their Olympic Sports Weekend, which will be held from 31 January to 2 February.

During her illustrious career, Dubravčić- Šimunić performed twice at the Winter Olympics. In 1980 she took 11th place and in 1984 in Sarajevo she came in 10th, while at the European Championship 1981 she won the silver medal for the Former Yugoslavia.

During her stay at the ‘Olympic Sports Weekend’, which is part of the project ‘Olympic Family-Lets Celebrate the Olympic Spirit, Sanda, as a judge of the International Skating Union will be part of the completion in the figure skating ‘Sarajevo OPEN 2014’, and at a special event to escort the B&H Olympic Team in Sochi and the promotion of EYOF 2017, which will be held on 1 February on Jahorina.

On this occasion, Sanda will light the symbolic Olympic flame together with Žana Novaković, a B&H Olympian, in order to connect the memory of the 1984 Winter Olympics and the beginning of preparations for EYOF 2017.
