Parlament-djeca-Konjevic-poljeEven though the second half of the school semester begins on Monday in the RS, children of Bosniak nationality from Vrbanjac near Kotor Varoš and Konjević Polje will not go to school.

‘’Our demands remain the same. In order for children to attend school, we are asking the RS Minister of Education and Culture to introduce Bosnian language. This is the minimum’’, said one of the parents from Vrbanjac Nedžad Smajlović to Fena.

He points out that parents did not give up their other requests, such as introducing five national subjects, improving sanitary conditions and employing technical staff of Bosniak nationality, but they are ready to solve the problems while the children attend school. H recalled that parents send the President and Prime Minister of the RS, Milorad Dodik and Željka Cvijanović, respectively, an urgent call for dialogue a few days ago in order to solve their problems.

In their call, parents from Vrbanjac said that for more than two years, they have been after their rights and did not manage to find a solution to their problems, even though they had the promise of the previous Minister of Education and Culture Anton Kasipović, and held several meetings with the current Minister of Culture and Education Goran Mutabdžija.

‘’We have still not received a response, but we hope that goodwill will be shown’’, said Smajlović.

In this school, there are 52,78 percent of children of Bosniak nationality, and in accordance with the legislation, parents are asking for the introduction of the Bosnian language in the curriculum.

Children from Konjević Polje will also not attend school, and their parents have been camped out in front of the OHR building in Sarajevo since 9 October.
