The course of Chinese language, calligraphy, the martial art of Thai Chi and the art of paper cutting are only some of the activities that Confucius Institute in Sarajevo offers to all lovers of Chinese culture and language. The institute was opened two years ago and it is the first of its kind in BiH, and more than 200 participants attended courses so far.
Most of the students noted that they are attracted to the Chinese language because it is different and more challenging than most languages, and they are also approaching Chinese culture by learning their language.
“It is much more different and more exotic. My primary motive for learning this language was being able to understand so many people in the world and knowing how to communicate with them,” said Aida, a participant of the language course.
Chinese calligraphy represents the art of writing Chinese characters in ink by using a brush, and a participant of this course Matea said that you can identify differences in the character attributes of the author based on the style of the calligraphy.
“The thicker the letters are, the person is more decisive, the thinner the letters are, the person is more elegant,” said Matea, a student of the fifth year of the Department of English at the Faculty of Philosophy.
“I believe that more and more people will want to learn the Chinese language in the future period because China is developing very fast and it is cooperating with many countries in the field of education,” said the director of Confucius Institute La Weixin.
