Sarajevo Airport loses One Flight Route

The company has not provided a reason for its decision to discontinue the regular route between the two cities.

Greek airline Aegean Airlines will discontinue its flights between Skopje and Sarajevo as of November 29th, just over a year after launching operations between the two cities.

The carrier initially planned to offer service three times a week in November and December, and then twice a week starting in January.

However, it has now canceled all flights after the end of November. Ticket sales for the summer season of 2025 have also been halted.

The airline has not commented on its decision to stop the flights.

This summer, Aegean Airlines operated flights between the two capitals primarily using an ATR42 aircraft with 46 seats, through its regional subsidiary Olympic Air, although it initially planned to use a larger ATR72 turboprop with 72 seats.

The service marked the first time in thirteen years that Skopje and Sarajevo were connected by a regular air route since the now-defunct BH Airlines operated flights between the two cities.

Last year, Aegean Airlines applied for the Macedonian government’s subsidy program for introducing new routes from Skopje but withdrew after the tender was declared invalid. It did not participate in the subsequent public call organized by the government.

The Greek national carrier also plans to further reduce frequencies on its Athens–Skopje route.
