Sarajevo Airport is preparing a new masterplan for the 2028 – 2048 period, with a runway extension, additional terminal capacity and new hangars among its development priorities.
The plans were discussed during a recent visit by ACI EUROPE Director General Olivier Jankovec, who met officials from several levels of government and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s aviation institutions.
Other priorities include relocating the airport’s fuel depot, expanding parking facilities, improving ground access and protecting land needed for future growth.
ACI EUROPE called for close coordination between the airport and public authorities as the masterplan is prepared. It also renewed its appeal to abolish the charge levied on departing passengers, arguing that the fee weakens the country’s ability to attract airline capacity, Ex Yu Aviation reports.
