Sarajevo: Almost 40% more Tourists than in the Last Year

Tourists SarajevoIn February 2015, Canton Sarajevo was visited by 14.752 tourists, which is increased by 38.6% compared to February last year.

Tourists made 29.477 overnight stays,  that is for 41.5% more compared to the same period in 2014.

Within the structure of tourist arrivals in Canton Sarajevo, 70.6% arrivals was made by the foreign tourists and 29.4% by the domestic tourists.

Most foreign tourists came from Croatia (27.1%), from Turkey (12.3%), from Serbia (8.9%), from Slovenia (6.3%) and from the South Korea (3.7%).

Within the structure of tourists’ overnight stays, 74.% of overnight stays were recorded by the foreign tourists, while 25.4% were recorded by the domestic tourists.

Within the structure of foreign tourists’ overnight stays, most overnight stays were made by tourists from Croatia (21.9%), from Turkey (12.7%), from Serbia (8.2%), from Slovenia (6.2%) and from Italy (4.6%).

Tourists from following countries stayed the longest: Comoros 17, Kuwait 5.2, Cyprus 5, Ireland 4.5, Mexico 4.3, Bahrain 4.2, Qatar 3.9, Sweden 3.6, Israel 3.5, Australia 3.4, Lithuania 3.2, Portugal 3.2, Italy 3.1, Norway 3.1 and Kazakhstan 3.1.

The average number of days of stay of tourists in February 2015 was 1.9.

Canton Sarajevo was visited by tourist from 85 countries in February 2015.

Utilization of accommodation capacities was 25.9% in terms of room occupancy, or 12.1% in terms of bed occupancy, as announced from the Touristic Association of Canton Sarajevo.
