[wzslider autoplay=”true”]Antique stores, the places that preserve the past and places where you can find objects that testify to the fact that quality and beauty of creation of things for everyday use were an indispensable part of life, are rare in BiH and Sarajevo.

One of those rare stores is Antika, a store located in the centre of Sarajevo, where you can find handmade antiquities and collection items.

In the present world, ruled by objects produced in series, without quality, without individuality, entering this store is like walking into a time machine that takes to back 50, 80, 100, 200 years.

“The oldest object is a chest, 250 years old. It is a weird chest that cannot be opened even with a key. You can turn the key, but the chest will not open unless the lock is under the right angle,” said the store owner Haris Hašanović.

With their eyes wide open, the visitors look at luxuriously dressed ceramic dolls, and there are also toy trolleys more than 100 years old.

Those who wish might sit in antique chairs, have fun with the antique inkwells, cameras, look at the collection of old money, coins, there is also a handmade wine rack, porcelain sets, vases, mirrors of different sizes, materials, designs…

This antique store had objects for everyone’s taste and wallet. Prices range from several BAM to several thousand BAM. Objects that can be found in this antique store are mostly handmade and well-preserved, despite their old age.

As Hašanović explained, this job demands a lot of time and travel. He finds objects all around the world. That includes visiting cellars, attics, cooperation with other antique collectors, in other words – life on the road.

According to the Law on antiquities, and antiquity is an object older than 100 years in the moment when its value is considered. Objects that are worth collecting, but are still not older than 100 years, are considered collector’s items.
