After ten years, the Canton of Sarajevo received an Urban Plan for the urban areas of the Sarajevo municipalities of Stari Grad, Centar, Novo Sarajevo, Novi Grad, Ilidža and Vogošća, and an urban plan for the urban areas of Ilijaš, Hadžić and Trnovo.

Canton Sarajevo Prime Minister Nihad Uk, CS Minister of Communal Economy, Spatial Planning Infrastructure, Construction and Environmental Protection Bojan Bošnjak and CS Development Planning Institute Director Faruk Muharemović said today at a press conference that it is a fundamental document for the development of Sarajevo Canton.

Uk emphasized that it is one of the most important documents that the Government and the CS Assembly will adopt, because it regulates the space of the community, Sarajevo Canton, with the aim of improving the quality of life of the citizens.

“The document was created according to the modern approach in the world. It is the so-called 15-minute city, which means that the citizens of CS can fulfill their needs within a 15-minute walking distance, be it sports, culture, health services,” explained Uk.

With the adoption of that document, he added, the assumption for the development of other planning documents in CS is realized.

In addition to other things, the Urban Plan has positioned three tram lines – towards Dobrinja, Rajlovac and Šip na Bare.

Minister Bošnjak believes that the Urban Plan is a very futuristic solution that the public, all interested citizens, non-governmental organizations, will have the opportunity to thematize and suggest.

According to Muharemović, in addition to the spatial plan, the Urban Plan is one of the most important documents, because the spatial plan covers the entire territory of CS, and the Urban Plan covers the urban part of CS.

The holder of the preparation of the document is the Government of the CS, the holder of the preparation is the Institute for Planning and Development of the Cs, and the plan is adopted by the Assembly of the CS. Planning subjects participating in the development of the plan are all cantonal public companies, municipalities whose area is included in the plan, local communities, interested non-governmental organizations, as well as owners, land users and other interested subjects who express their interest.

The implementation of urban plans in the area of CS will precisely define the purpose, as well as the manner and conditions of land use within the scope of the plans.

“In a conceptual sense, the basic elements of the projection of spatial development, integration and protection of space are realized by planning the detailed uses of space and the manner of their use, and are based on the rational use of space, the optimal distribution of uses and urban functions for the purpose of organizing and arranging the wider and narrower urban areas , and connecting and equipping the entire urban area with the necessary infrastructure,” explained Muharemović.

The Government of the CS adopted the Draft Urban Plan, and the Assembly of the KS will consider the Draft on February 26 at its session.

Prime Minister Uk, Minister Bošnjak and director Muharemović invited all interested parties to participate in the public discussion in order to obtain a higher quality document, because it should be known that the final definition of the document defines the conditions of life in Sarajevo Canton, Fena news agency writes.
