The already long American blacklist could be expanded with new names that Washington considers to be undermining the peace and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is one of the main messages of the assistant secretary for finance of the USA, who is visiting our country. The second, much more important one, relates to the financial sector and could have consequences for all of us.
After individuals from the government, their associates and companies close to them, banks from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and those that cooperate with sanctioned individuals, could be blacklisted by the United States of America.
“If I were the bank here, I would be very careful indeed,” says Anna Morris, assistant secretary of the US Treasury.
Because it can be risky for the bank if it allows a person from the black list to even open an account.
“Sanctions related to Bosnia and Herzegovina apply not only to sanctioned persons or entities, but carry a risk for anyone who supports such persons or entities,” says Morris, N1 reports.
