Sarajevo Days of Poetry from 7 to 11 May

poezijaFifty second International Literary Event Sarajevo Days of Poetry, in organisation of the Association of Writers of BiH will be held in the period from 7 to 11 May 2013, reports radiosarajevo.ba

Poets from 16 countries will participate (France, Sweden, Germany, Lithuania, Italy, Bulgaria, Albania, Bulgaria, Ireland, Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Norway).

President of the Program Council, Mile Stojić announced today that the winner of this year’s International award of Days of Poetry – Bosanski stećak- is Serbian writer Mirjana Stefanović.

Program starts on 7 May, and on 11 May, guest will have the opportunity to visit Travnik and the house of Ivo Andrić where they’ll have a literary event. Apart from that, Swedish poets will perform in atelier ‘Figure’ in Sarajevo.

The International Literary Event started in 1962 with the aim of preserving and improving the literary standards of written word in BIH.

Also, the aim of the event was to open up BiH cultural area to different languages, cultures, literary tradition, and in 52 years, many famous poets from BiH and former Yugoslavia participated.

The event is traditionally being held in Spring, in the first half of May.
