Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Nihad Uk, Sarajevo Canton Minister of Economy Zlatko Mijatović and BiH Minister of Communications and Transport Edin Forto discussed with the management of Sarajevo International Airport about business results, current capacities and plans for further development of the airport, with a special focus on the 2026 summer flight schedule, which envisages flights by 31 airlines to 41 destinations.

The meeting was also attended by members of the airport management, including the Acting Executive Director for Traffic and Air Traffic Services Amadeo Mandić, the Acting Executive Director for Airport Development Slobodan Kadijević and the Director of the Airport Services Sector Vedrana Vikić.

During the meeting, the business results from the past year were presented, which confirm the strong growth of Sarajevo Airport and its increasingly strong position in the regional and European air traffic network.

In 2025, the airport served 2,226,692 passengers (+22.2% compared to 2024), 19,671 air operations (+16.8%), while cargo traffic amounted to 3,344,215 kilograms.

The largest number of passengers was recorded on routes to Istanbul, Vienna and Zagreb, which confirms the importance of Sarajevo as a regional air hub.

The Sarajevo Airport Development Plan until 2032 was also presented at the meeting, which envisages infrastructure expansion, increased capacity and modernization of operational and security systems, with the aim of long-term sustainability and strengthening competitiveness in the regional and European markets.

Prime Minister Uk and Minister Mijatović emphasized that the Sarajevo Canton continues to strongly support the development of air traffic, especially through the policy of subsidizing existing and new airlines, which is already visible through the growth in the number of passengers, airport revenues, tourism development and the overall economic effect for the Sarajevo Canton and BiH, the Sarajevo Canton Press Service announced.
