Research shows that there will be a shortage of more than 8,000 workers in the hospitality industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina by 2027.
In order to solve this problem, the US Government, through the US Agency for International Development (USAID), announces the launch of the PROFI on-the-job training program with 11 hotels and restaurants from Sarajevo and Jahorina, for faster integration of new, professionally trained workers in the tourism sector and catering.
The USAID project Development of Sustainable Tourism in BiH will sign tomorrow at the Holiday Hotel, the implementation plans of the PROFI workplace training program with the hotels Holiday, Evropa, Courtyard by Marriott Sarajevo, Termag, Vučko, Tarčin Forest Resort and Spa, Pino Nature, Swissotel, Novotel Bristol ibis Styles and restaurant Druga kuća.
The goal of the FROFI training program is to improve professionalism and improve standards in leading hotels and restaurants in Bosnia and Herzegovina, through a certified plan based on professional standards and structured workplace training. Parallel activities have been designed to launch the same initiative in the area of Banja Luka, and other regions of BiH will be added in the future.
PROFI offers a structured training program to unqualified, qualified, professional and technically trained individuals so that everyone can reach the necessary competencies within their chosen discipline. The program offers certification of tourism-specific qualifications, which will be recognized by the sector and sector institutions. Education is further improved by a structured program that includes professional standards, learning materials, training provided by certified educators within the workplace, and a system of evaluation and awarding of certificates, USAID announced.
