“According to the latest statistical data of the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, the number of accommodation facilities in the Sarajevo Canton is 858. The total number of rooms is 7,568, while the total number of beds is 17,513. The latest statistical data on the utilization of accommodation facilities in Sarajevo Canton show that 80 percent of the rooms are occupied. Both the number of rooms and the number of beds in June this year increased by about five percent compared to last year,” said to Fena Haris Fazlagić, president of the Canton Sarajevo Tourist Board.

According to him, when talking about accommodation in Sarajevo Canton, hotels have the largest share in terms of utilization and availability of rooms and beds, while the most tourist arrivals are recorded in the municipality of Ildža, followed by the municipalities of Stari Grad and Centar.

“According to information from tourist workers, specifically hoteliers, the current occupancy rate reaches up to 84 percent, and hoteliers have no doubt that the occupancy rate will rise to 96 to 97 percent in the coming days of August,” said Fazlagić.

Making a comparison with the same period last year, as Fazlagić points out, hoteliers claim that, according to the reservations, they will be filled as last year, that is, they say that during the Sarajevo Film Festival, all capacities in the Sarajevo Canton are filled.

In the first half of 2024, the largest number of guest arrivals in Sarajevo Canton was recorded from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Croatia, Serbia, China, Germany, USA, Slovenia, UAE and Kuwait.
