Sarajevo int’l Airport handles record Number of Passengers in July

SARAJEVO, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) — Sarajevo International Airport (SIA) received 159,380 passengers in July, a new monthly record, SIA press office said Friday.

SIA said on its website that the new monthly record represented an increase of 14 percent year-on-year.

The number of flights carried out in July was 1,573, up 11 percent year-on-year.
In the first seven months of this year, SIA served a total of 589,522 passengers, up 13 percent year-on-year. In the same period, the number of flights was 7,735, an increase of 6 percent year-on-year.

SIA expected that it would receive more than a million passengers the whole year, hitting a new record.

SIA currently hosts 17 airline companies and a number of charter air companies that operate during the summer season linking the capital with 17 destinations.
