According to air quality measurements, Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday, July 17, is among the most polluted cities in the world.

Data from the IQAir website show that the air pollution index at 1 p.m. in Sarajevo was 124, which is considered unhealthy air for sensitive groups.

The air quality in Sarajevo has not been favorable in recent days as a result of the heat wave that affected BiH.

Above Sarajevo, on the world map of the most polluted cities are Dubai, Jakarta, Cairo, Kinshasa and Lahore.

According to IQAir data, the concentration of PM2.5 in Sarajevo is currently nine times higher than the annual air quality reference value of the World Health Organization.

Exceeding the permitted concentration of floating particles is common in Sarajevo during the winter season, and the biggest causes of pollution are industrial plants, traffic, waste burning, and individual fireplaces, AA writes.
