The Sarajevo Marathon Association has informed the public and registered participants that the ninth edition of the Sarajevo City Night Race will be held on July 12, 2026, instead of the previously announced date of June 28, 2026.

According to the organizer, the date change was necessary due to the unavailability of Asim Ferhatović Hase and Grbavica stadiums, which play a key role in the organization and race route. During the originally planned period, both venues were reserved for the European Junior Women’s Football Championship, making it impossible to maintain the scheduled date despite efforts to find alternative solutions.

“We are aware that the date change comes relatively close to the race and sincerely apologize to all participants for any inconvenience this may cause. At the same time, we thank the running community for their understanding and support. We believe that on the new date, we will once again create an unforgettable edition of the Sarajevo Festival,” said Elvedin Tunović, Executive Director of the Sarajevo Marathon Association.

The Association confirmed that all existing registrations will automatically remain valid for the new race date of July 12, 2026.

Participants who are unable to attend on the new date will be offered several alternatives, including a full refund, transfer of their registration to the 2027 Sarajevo City Race, or application of the paid amount toward registration for the Sarajevo Half Marathon 2026. Participants wishing to use any of these options are encouraged to contact the organizers via email at info@sarajevomarathon.ba.

For years, the Sarajevo City Night Race has been recognized as one of the most prominent recreational running events in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region. Known for its evening schedule, unique city atmosphere, and strong international participation, the race has become a key part of Sarajevo’s summer sports calendar and a significant promoter of healthy lifestyles.

The Sarajevo Marathon Association, organizer of the event, has spent nearly two decades promoting recreational running, healthy living, and urban tourism through initiatives such as the Sarajevo Half Marathon, Run Fest Sarajevo, and the Sarajevo Running Club. Through its activities, the Association continues to emphasize social responsibility, humanitarian engagement, and the development of sports culture within the community.
