Sarajevo Municipal Court orders Detention to Two Ministers

The Municipal Court in Sarajevo accepted the proposal of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office and ordered one-month detention for Ministers in the Cantonal Government Adna Mesihović (ZNG) and Ibrahim Obhođaš (ZNG).

They were ordered to be detained due to the risk of influencing witnesses, concealing evidence, obstructing the criminal investigation and the risk of repeating the criminal offense.

Prohibiting measures were proposed for the suspect Dženita Viteškić (ZNG), namely a ban on performing the duties of an assistant at the Cantonal Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth and a ban on meeting with witnesses.

All were arrested in Operation Koverta at the end of last week.

Mesihović and Viteškić were arrested on suspicion of illegal employment in the Ministry. Obhođaš is suspected of the criminal offense of accepting gifts or other forms of benefits, or of mediation in the appointment.

The Prosecutor’s Office’s proposal to impose a measure prohibiting Viteškić from taking on official duties as an assistant minister was rejected.
