This morning, Sarajevo was on the list of the most polluted large and capital cities in the world, according to the IQAir portal.

Sarajevo is in third place on the list of most polluted cities this morning, and air quality in the BiH capital was rated as “unhealthy”, with an air quality index of 161.

The Croatian capital Zagreb is in fifth place on the list of the most polluted cities this morning, with an air quality index of 157. The same health quality index was recorded in Belgrade and was assessed as “unhealthy”.

At the top of the list is currently Karachi (Pakistan) whose quality index is 181, and this city is followed by New Delhi (India) with an index of 180.

Swiss IQAir has more than 10,000 measuring stations worldwide and displays air quality maps worldwide.

During the winter season in Sarajevo and some cities in BiH, the permitted concentration of suspended particles is exceeded almost every day, and the biggest causes of pollution are industrial plants, traffic, waste incineration, and individual furnaces.
