As part of the commemoration of February 5, the Day of Remembrance for all citizens of Sarajevo killed and wounded during the siege of 1992-1995 and the 31st anniversary of the Markale market massacre, a flower-laying ceremony and a commemorative session will be held today.
The laying of flowers at the memorial at the Markale market is planned for 12:00, and at 12:30 a joint commemorative session of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, the Sarajevo City Council and municipal councils from the Sarajevo Canton area will be held at the National Theatre, organized by the Sarajevo Canton, the Protocol and Press Service of the Canton announced.
On this day 31 years ago, 68 people were killed and 142 were wounded by the explosion of a mortar shell fired from a position of the Army of Republika Srpska.

The market and the closed Markale market in the old part of Sarajevo were shelled twice during the siege of the city. After February 1994, in a massacre at the very end of the war, on August 28, 1995, 43 civilians were killed and 84 wounded near the Markale City Market.
