Sarajevo Sevdah Fest opened last night in Pivnica

ssfLast night, a solemn opening ceremony of the Sarajevo Sevdah Fest was held in Pivnica in Sarajevo with numerous guests from BiH public life.

The festival was opened by Refik Begić from the Cabinet of Vice-President of FBIH and he wished organisers and all those who love sevdalinka best of luck.

Advisor to Head of Centre Municipality Mustafa Resić said that he’s glad that the municipality is a part of the project and added that sevdalinka is experiencing a great revival in BiH.

Ambassador of Spain to BiH Aurora Maria Mejia Errasquin announced the performance of Cristin4 Soler and Pacoseco Trio from Spain, noting that audience of Sarajevo never heard flamenco and sevdah together, and added that they both have same roots.

One of the best interpreters of sevdalinka Amira Medunjanin said she’s very happy Sarajevo has its sevdah festival and noted that it is important that young people come and see this unique treasure of BiH.

Medunjanin said she hopes the festival become very important, not just for BiH but for the entire region, because  the region of the  Balkans has very good music.

Numerous artists, officials and politicians attended the solemn opening and the string quartet ‘Adorate’ had a concert of sevdah in combination with classical music.

PR manager of Sarajevo Sevdah Fest said to klix.ba that the organisers are excited about the entire festival and added that the festival will be opened today with the concert of Marija Šestić and DrAmmar Project.

After Marija Šestić and DrAmmar Project, the audience will have the opportunity to listen to Shaderwan Code, Cristina Soler and Pacoseco Trio from Spain. On the third night, young BiH band Divanhana will perform followed by Amira Medunjanin and band REKA- Balkan River of Music. The festival will be closed by Mostar Sevdah Reunion and Ilijaz Delić Mostarac.
