taxiDue to measures that are caused in Canton Sarajevo by high concentration of harmful particles in the air, in force is “odd and even” system of communication. The whole situation forced a large number of citizens to find alternative transportation this morning.

Earlier, the Government of Canton Sarajevo decided that public transportation will be absolutely free for all the citizens during emergency measures. Thus all available means of transport of GRAS are on the field and transport all citizens who today are not privileged to use their cars. In order to help our citizens, a similar measure adopted the Association of Independent taxi drivers “Sarajevotaxi”, which decided to offer the citizens of Sarajevo free services due to the emergency measures.

Alma Becirovic, the Secretary of the Association, said that such solidarity is the desire of members of Sarajevotaxi “to contribute to the rapid resolution of the current situation, and facilitate the movement of citizens.

“We usually avoid the traffic in the morning and afternoon hours during the abnormal traffic jams in our city, but now we are making concessions and all of our cars are on the streets. In the morning, from 7:30 am to 8:30 am on the tramway track, we will provide free services of taxi transport and in the afternoon from 3.30 pm to 4:30 pm,” said Becirovic.

Special measures were introduced by members of the association in order to show solidarity with the citizens who need medical assistance, and they introduced a special telephone line that citizens can use if they need to go to the hospital or ambulance, and the transport will be free.

“We opened a special phone number for people with disabilities and special needs, who can call that number and get a free service. We have provided a special number of vehicles for this purpose, bigger vehicles needed for this kind of thing and it is another measure that we will undertake to help the people, but if necessary, we will do even greater concessions “, concluded Becirovic.

Since this is an association of public interest for the Canton, the Government of Canton Sarajevo issued the permission for transport 24 hours a day, regardless of the numbers of their license plates, so that this service will be available to citizens.

If you need transportation to medical facilities, you can get this service by calling 062 / 211-990.
