franz-sophieThe Sarajevo teahouse “Franz and Sophie” is listed among the top ten percent of the most successful establishments in the world, according to tourists on the website for planning and design of TripAdvisor. The teahouse received an award that is handed out to establishments from the entire world, and which always receive good reviews.

Instead of traditional herbs, you can find an array of teas from throughout the world. Adnan Smajić is the owner.

“Tea is connected to the philosophy of the world. In the East, it is tied to religion, with Buddhism, with Zen Buddhism. Recently I read the wonderful phrase ‘tea is a term in which I find myself wherever I am at this moment’. And really, when you prepare tea, then you have the feeling during those 5 minutes of preparation that you are that moment’’, said Smajić.

‘’When I decided to leave medicine, the life situation and circumstances were quite different-and at that time tea arrived as a friend, a small enrichment to my life. The friendship between me and tea gradually developed. There were failures and beautiful moments. I would have probably been in a better financial position if I stayed in my former profession, but I probably would not have had all that I have now, but I do not regret it’’, said Smajić.
