An extraordinary work of art in the form of the page of comics that could be seen at the roof of the Markale market, was presented yesterday in Sarajevo.
It is about the comic strip “Omar le Cheri“, by creators Gilles Kraemer and Damir Niksic, whose only page will adorn the roof of the famous Sarajevo market until the beginning of the Sarajevo Film Festival.
“We want his comic strip to mark the beginning of the cultural season 2015, and we can thank for it to Damir Niksic and Gilles Kraemer. The huge page of the strip, actually the biggest one in the world, is on the roof of Markale, and I want to thank to the administration of the market, as well as to the skill of all those who placed the page on its roof“, said the Ambassador of France in B&H, Claire Bodony in the French Institute, whose balcony opens a view on the page of the strip.
The creator of the strip, Gilles Kraemer, reminded on some significant records that the strip carries with itself, and which it borrowed to the city of Sarajevo by its presence.
“It is about several aims that were achieved – this page is the biggest in the world and it is the first aim. The second one would be the fact that the publishing house will publish the comic of one domestic author who worked with the French screenwriter for the first time. The third aim would be the fact that this comic is a special one, because it is made by a Frenchman, drew by a Bosnian, the main character is Greek and Omer le Cheri itself is an Egyptian“, explained Kraemer.
