The Canton Sarajevo (CS) Tourist Board is satisfied with the results of the New Year tourist season, which confirmed Sarajevo’s status as one of the most desirable winter destinations in the region.

In the period from December 29th to January 2nd, 15.110 arrivals and 35.534 overnight stays by tourists were recorded, representing an increase of 1.4 percent in arrivals and 4.5 percent in overnight stays compared to the same period of the previous, record-breaking year. The average length of stay was 2.4 days.

Over a slightly longer period, from December 29th to January 5th, 23.208 tourists arrived in Sarajevo, and 52.150 overnight stays were recorded. This segment also shows growth, 1.6 percent more arrivals and four percent more overnight stays compared to last year’s period, with an average stay of 2.3 days.

The largest number of guests arrived from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Turkey, Austria, Italy, Germany, and China, the CS Tourist Board announced.

These data confirm that Sarajevo remains an attractive and competitive destination for the New Year holidays, thanks to its rich content, unique atmosphere, and continuous promotion of the Visit Sarajevo brand.

“We are satisfied with the turnout; the organization of the concerts went excellently, and we had the longest New Year’s celebration in the region. These are the foundations for us to make the next New Year’s celebration even better, to create a unique offer that will last more days than before. Thank you to everyone who chose Sarajevo as their New Year’s destination; we believe you will come again,” said Haris Fazlagic, president of the CS Tourist Board.
