A girl (4) in a collective centre in TuzlaA number of NGOs and humanitarian organizations are doing wonderful work to aleviate some of the hardships that continue with the steady rainfall. With local partners in both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, Save the Children’s North West Balkans office (http://nwb.savethechildren.net/) is uniquely positioned to provide humanitarian assistance to both affected countries, with special attention paid to their youngest population in need.

So far, Save the Children has responded to the needs identified by its local partner NGOs in both countries by distributing water pumps, electricity generators, boats, raincoats, rubber boots and dehumidifiers. Next priority is provision of blankets and sleeping bags for the evacuated population, with focus on families with children.

Funds raised here will be received directly by Save the Children’s main office in Westport, CT in the United States (not the fundraisers) and will be designated for the North West Balkans office’s efforts to assist flood victims in both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. According to the field staff consulted, assistance is apportioned equally between the two countries.

The need for assistance is urgent, so please donate now!
