Schmidt called on Politicians in BiH not to play tactical Games

The High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, gave a guest lecture to the students of the University of Sarajevo from the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Political Sciences.

Held at the University’s headquarters, the lecture was not open to the press, but on the eve of the event, Schmidt stated that the main message he wanted to convey to the students was that lessons for the future should be learned from the past. It is also necessary for students from other countries to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina and, if possible, study in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“I often have the feeling that the knowledge of people outside this country about what is happening in Bosnia and Herzegovina is superficial. It is important that they come and see the situation and consider studying here. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country to visit and stay, not a country to leave,” said the high representative.

Asked about today’s session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina and about possible changes to the BiH Election Law, which the ruling state coalition promised, Schmidt says that local politicians should take responsibility.

“I think that the local authorities should take that responsibility and with their activities comply with the standard that is expected in the elections, which was also confirmed by the OSCE,” said the high representative.

“Local authorities should work on the implementation of the foundations that I incorporated in the amendments to the Law that I passed so that the voters have full confidence,” he concluded, noting that there is not much time until the next elections.

Considering that the proposed election law of that entity is also on the announced agenda of today’s session of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska, journalists asked him if he would intervene in the event of its adoption, but he did not answer specifically, but only that we should wait and see how things will unfold. in connection with that, Fena writes.
