robbie-burnsAn evening dedicated to Robert Burns, organized by the Caledonian Society in B&H, will take place tomorrow in Hotel ‘Europe’ in Sarajevo. For just that night, Café Vienna has been renamed Café Glasgow. The money raised from the evening will be donated to the Christine Witcutt program for youth with special needs in the elementary school Vladimir Nazor in Sarajevo.

Burns dinner and dance is traditionally held during this time of the year in Scotland, as well as anywhere else in the world with Scottish communities, and the event celebrates the life and work of the great Scottish poet Robert Burns. The event will start with a ceremonial enactment of serving Haggis, a traditional Scottish dish. After the dinner, there will be speeches made in honor of Burns, followed by dancing to traditional Scottish music.

Broken House, a band composed mainly of B&H musicians who already have an attractive repertoire of Scottish folk and country music will take care of the music. It can be said that they are the leading Caledonian dance band in the Balkans.
