Senior officials of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), denied speculations that this party will initiate a referendum on the abolition of the RS if the smaller BiH entity holds a referendum on the Day of Republika Srpska on the 25th of September.
Vice President of Republika Srpska, Ramiz Salkic, said that he does not understand who allegedly threatened with the abolition of the RS, adding that any referendum in BiH is not constitutional.
“Any referendum or any denial of the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH represents destruction of the Dayton Peace Agreement, and thus the destruction of the RS. They cannot say that something called the RS exists thanks to the Dayton Peace Agreement and at the same time that we should not respect the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH, which is the original Dayton category,” said Salkic.
“It is a framework for peace in BiH that we all have accepted and that we must respect. If we will respect the Dayton then we will also respect the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH, which are what they are whether someone is happy or not. We are unhappy with every single decision of the Constitutional Court of RS and every single decision of the National Assembly of RS and the Government of RS. However, we respect these decisions and do not invite citizens to show disobedience and not pay taxes, although they are paying with those taxes the institutions that they are not happy with, “said Salkic.
Salkic emphasized that the RS will do the most damage with the referendum to itself.
The Secretary General of SDA, Amir Zukic, also denied these kinds of allegations.
“This is obviously a demagogic allegation. SDA is clearly committed to the European path of our country and reforms. To be honest, we are not happy with internal arrangements in BiH either, but we will not contribute to destabilization. We have ready answer for those who attempt to jeopardize BiH,” said Zukic.
He emphasized that SDA will work on building a functional state in accordance with the constitutional opportunities.
