Meeting of ministers of foreign affairs of member countries of the Central European Initiative (CEI) began today in Banja Luka.
The meeting, organized within the framework of the chairmanship of BiH in the CEI, is attended by ministers of foreign affairs of Austria, Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary, Serbia, Macedonia and Belarus. Other member countries are represented by deputy ministers of foreign affairs and state secretaries in ministries.
The Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn is attending this ministerial conference as a guest.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Igor Crnadak stated today that this event is organized in an important moment, when great efforts are invested so that BiH would make the next step on the EU path – the obtaining of a positive assessment by the Council of Foreign Affairs at the session in July.
Crnadak especially highlighted parts of the meeting which should contribute to the EU path through regional cooperation.
Important topics at the conference will be the migration crisis and fight against terrorism.
Crnadak pointed out that it is very important that BiH, after successful chairmanship in the Council of Europe, gets to have another chairmanship such as this conference, thus showing that it can perform serious tasks on the international political scene.
