The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Nešić, said today in Sarajevo that Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Southeast European Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Initiative (DPPI) do not yet have a ratified agreement on cooperation, but that they will try to eliminate the difficulties that existed in the past in connection with ratification and upon entry into force of this document.

Nešić, during the opening of the Regional Meeting of the Initiative for Preparedness and Prevention of Disasters in Southeast Europe, pointed out that since taking over the Ministry of Security of BiH, he has eliminated a lot of locked things in the past, and one of the most important is the establishment of a contact point for cooperation with Europol, the relevant ministry announced.

“We will also open a process of cooperation with DPPI and with all those who bring good to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the entities Republika Srpska, Federation of BiH and Brčko District. Our people, regardless of which part of BiH they live in, did not deserve to live in the past and blockades, but looking to the future and following the best world practices in all areas, especially in the area of protection and rescue,” said Nešić.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has been a member of the Southeast European Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Initiative for 22 years and during this period has significantly contributed to the strengthening of regional cooperation in this area.

The member countries of this organization, through a regional approach, strive to prevent or mitigate the consequences of natural and other disasters, primarily by exchanging information and training for planning and implementing measures to protect against earthquakes, floods, fires, pollution, radiological hazards and industrial disasters.
