NATO is closely monitoring Russia’s attempts to influence internal processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, said NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shkerinska, emphasizing that such activities represent a typical “Russian model of action”, which is also applied in other countries, and that it is part of their hybrid arsenal. She emphasized that NATO remains committed to the Western Balkans, because, as she said, it is a region of strategic importance for the Alliance.
“Of course, we are very closely monitoring attempts by malicious Russian influence to interfere in domestic and regional developments. We have seen how these Russian hybrid activities are trying to sow division, encourage certain secessionist rhetoric and actually create additional divisions within our countries and regions,” said NATO Deputy Secretary General.
