The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Office for the Balkans, in cooperation with the Japanese Embassy in BIH, will hold a seminar in Sarajevo today called ‘’Previous and Current Cooperation Between Japan and BiH in Providing Official Development Assistance (ODA)”. The ODA is in its 17th year of implementation.
Hideo Yamazaki, the Ambassador of Japan to BiH, will attend the seminar, as well as Muharrem Zejnulahu, the Assistant Minister of BiH Foreign Affairs, and Toshiya Abe, the Permanent Representative of the JICA Office in the Balkans.
The JICA is an agency of the Japanese government that is in charge of the implementation of bilateral cooperation through projects of technical cooperation, ODA credits and grants.
Since 1995, Japan has provided assistance worth over 500 million euros, primarily intended to promote reconciliation through impartial support to all communities, as well as to strengthen economic stability that represents the foundation to peace.
Through the projects of the Japanese Embassy and the JICA, it will continue to provide active support that consistently strives for peace and will provide assistance for EU integration, with an emphasis on cooperation in the area of strengthening the private sector and preservation of the environment, announced from the Embassy of Japan in BIH and JICA.
