Sebija Izetbegović was stripped of her academic title of Master of Medical Sciences, which means that the director of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo and a professor at the Faculty of Medicine in this city was left without a diploma.

This decision, by majority vote, was adopted by the Senate of the University of Sarajevo, at an extraordinary session, where the diploma of Izetbegović, who is the wife of SDA party leader Bakir Izetbegović, was considered.

As reported, the Senate made its decision based on the analysis of the commission, which was led by Muhamed Ajanović, otherwise the dean of the Faculty of Dentistry.

Thirty members of the Senate voted for the annulment of Sebija Izetbegović’s diploma, five were against, and six abstained.

“On the basis of Article 61 of the Law on Higher Education, the UNSA Senate, considering the Commission’s analysis in the case of verification of documents related to the postgraduate studies of Prof. Sebija Izetbegović from February 23, at the 34th extraordinary session held today, adopted the Commission’s analysis. The Rector is in charge of the University to issue a decision canceling the entry in the registry books of the Faculty of Medicine in the name of Izetbegović Sebija, who defended her master’s thesis and thereby obtained the scientific degree of master because she did not fulfill all obligations at the Faculty of Medicine in the manner prescribed and according to the regulations that were in force The professional service of the UNSA is tasked to announce the subject registration as null and void in the KS Official Gazette. The Faculty of Medicine is tasked to audit the registry books and records,” reads the statement read by Rifat Škrijelj, rector of the UNSA.

The decision entered into force on the day of its adoption, but proceedings against it can be initiated before the court in Sarajevo within 30 days.

Sebija Izetbegović immediately announced that she would initiate criminal charges for abuse of position and abuse of authority, for discrimination as well as for stating untruths in an attempt to discredit her as a full professor at UNSA.
