The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia published the official statement of the relevant minister, Ivica Dačić, that Serbia will not send police officers to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was announced earlier that from Monday, July 22, one uniformed police officer and one officer of the Criminal Police Directorate of Serbia will be deployed in Banja Luka, Foča and Trebinje, who will work together with colleagues from the RS until September 1.
This caused several stormy reactions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially from the opposition, which called for preventing the entry of the Serbian police into our country because there could be an escalation.
The ruling coalition stated that this kind of cooperation is not unusual and that it is irresponsible to make it an act of aggression.
After a series of reactions, Dacic accused Bosniak politicians of “creating political intrigues and threats out of the most normal police cooperation in the tourist season.”
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia will not allow anyone to look for excuses for conflicts and preparations for war in this. That is why we will not send policemen to the Republika Srpska so that this will not be an artificial reason for attacks on Serbia and the Serbian people,” said Dacic.
He previously stated that this kind of cooperation between police agencies in the region has existed for ten years, that Serbian policemen have already been sent to Croatia and Montenegro, but that they do not have to send policemen to BiH if we do not want it, Klix.ba writes.
