The Serbian humanitarian association “Dobrotvor” Sarajevo also said goodbye to Zilha Seta, a woman who took care of the people in need in Sarajevo.

They say that Dobrotvor lost a sincere friend. “For both Christmas and Easter, Aunt Zilha would call to ask if we needed food, So when she settles those in need always ready to talk and joke. Thank you for everything Aunt “, they wrote on the social pages of” Dobrotvor “.

Zilha Seta (69), better known as Aunt Zilha, passed away on October 2nd in Sarajevo, and she will definitely be remembered as one of the symbols of this city.

She was born in Visegrad and has worked at the Stari Grad SoupKitchen in Sarajevo since 1992, and she continued to work thereuntil the last days of her life. This caring woman has become a woman who feeds the hungry and the sick.

“I remember well March 27th, ’92, emotions are still present, and the memory is fresh. The soup kitchen was primarily established for refugees who arrived in Sarajevo during the aggression through Hresa and Vratnik. At that time, we still did not know what was happening, and it did not even occur to us that the war would last for that long. One group of citizens, among whom there were Mustafa Mujezinovic, Ejub Mrkva, Faruk Jazic, Redzad Catic…, gathered and took action, resulting in today’s soup kitchen, which, unfortunately, is still opened. In March we had gas and electricity and in a large 200-liter cauldron we could make some meals. However, we had nothing on May 2nd, “Aunt Zilha told a few years ago.

As it was found out unofficially, Zilha was hospitalized last weekend, but the cause of death is not known yet.

Aunt Zilha helped the endangered during the most difficult moments of the siege of Sarajevo, but also during the coronavirus pandemic. She is the winner of different awards for humanity and sacrifice, and among the recognitions, there is the Sixth April Award of the City of Sarajevo.

The Stari Grad soup kitchen run by Zilha Seta was founded in March 1992 with the aim of helping the most vulnerable population of Canton Sarajevo. It currently has more than 1.200 users, for whom the employees of this kitchen prepare delicious and hot meals every day, making sure they are of quality and diverse as possible., Klix.ba writes.
