It is difficult to turn a blind eye to the events in Aleppo, and after reading the news about destruction and the number of killed people in that city, many of us feel powerless. However, everyone can still contribute and help Syrians in trouble.
Many humanitarian organizations have been present in Aleppo since the beginning of this tragedy, and everyone can help by either donating money or through some non-material means.
These are seven ways in which everyone can help the Syrian people in these crucial moments:
- Support the white helmets
This humanitarian organization saved thousands of Syrians during the war – they saved victims of the conflict, raised money for medical devices, and they supported those who lost their loved ones. They save lives and you can donate money to them here.
- Support doctors without borders
Global organization for health aid is still active throughout the country and helps people who need medical equipment or other things. You can donate money to them here.
- Support the Syrian American Medical Society
This group is leading dozens of medical operations in Syria, as well as in other countries that received many refugees – nearly three million Syrians in 2015. To donate money or become a volunteer, click here.
- Support the International Rescue Committee
The IRC takes care of people who escaped the war from countries throughout the world, including Syrian refugees. You can help them here.
- Save the Children
Organization Save the Children works with internally displaced people, refugee children and their families who are affected by the conflict. Read more about their activities and support them here.
- Participate in a rally or start one
In London, Istanbul and many other cities people have already been on the streets, asking from local governments to react to the growing crisis in Aleppo. If you live in those cities, join them or organize a protest in the place where you live.
- Support the refugees
Millions of refugees are displaced all over the world. The best we can do for them is to set aside our fears from the unknown and give them a chance to build their lives again, among us. Also, we need to give them hope that life can be better for them as well. You can donate to organizations UN Refugee Agency, Quetscope or Migrant Offshore Aid Station.
What is happening in Aleppo is not just a humanitarian tragedy, but a moral crisis as well. It is time to help because if we don’t we will always wonder what would have happened if we did something.
