Several Places in BiH Officially Got the Status of Cities

house of representaivesExtraordinary session of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament held in Sarajevo, on which with majority of votes in an emergency procedure deputies adopted the draft laws on awarding the status of a city to municipalities of Bihać, Široki Brijeg, Tuzla and Zenica.

Given that these legislative proposals were previously supported by the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, upon their publication in the Official Gazette, Bihać, Široki Brijeg, Tuzla and Zenica will officially become cities.

These four municipalities in BiH have fulfilled the criteria under the Law on Principles of Local Self-Government in the Federation of BiH, which allows the possibility of formation of a city on a territory of a municipality based on the decision of the municipal council and with fulfillment of certain preconditions – that the municipality is an urban infrastructure unit aligned with daily needs of citizens and has a minimum population of 30 000 of whom 10 000 inhabitants live in the urban central zone.

SBB deputy Aida Čikić is a proponent of the Bill on amendments to the Law on the Protection of Guarantors, but the bill was not endorsed by the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament.
