Only Bakir Izetbegović, president of the Democratic Action Party, responded to the invitation for the presidents of the SDA, HDZ BiH and SDP parties, which have members of the FBiH leadership, to join the meeting of the Federation of BiH leadership, which was previously called by the vice president of the Federation, Refik Lendo.
Let us remind you that in an earlier invitation addressed to Bakir Izetbegović, Dragan Čović, Nermin Nikšić and the President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Lidija Bradara and Vice President Igor Stojanović, Lendo stated that he was addressing them regarding the fact that on April 6, the deadline set by the Constitution of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the election of a new convocation of the Government of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina expired. He also emphasized the fact that dialogue and compromise are the only possible solution.
Information about the invitation to the meeting was also delivered to High Representative Christian Schmidt.
Dragan Čović stated earlier that the discussions about the Federal Government are over and it only needs to be confirmed, and that he will not respond to this call.
The President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Lidija Bradara stated that she will not attend today’s meeting called by the Vice President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Refik Lendo.
She pointed out that she has fulfilled her obligations regarding the formation of the FBiH Government and that she is once again calling on Vice President Lendo to fulfill his constitutional obligation.
The president of the SDP, Nermin Nikšić, did not respond to the invitation of the vice-president of the Federation of BiH, Refik Lendo, and this morning he announced this through his Facebook account.
“I understand that it is difficult for some to understand that the elected officials of the SDP negotiate and make decisions, taking into account the Party Program and the decisions of the organs of the SDP BiH. Of course, the president of the SDP ensures the implementation of those policies and decisions, as is normal for people, who were elected to the executive branch on behalf of the SDP, are nobody’s puppets after all,” he wrote.
Nikšić stated that they negotiate independently within the framework of the SDP Program and the decisions of party bodies, and independently implement policies in accordance with their competences given to them by the Constitution and the law.
“If Mr. Lendo understood that it is not right to delay something that is inevitable by abusing his position, I am sure that the leadership of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mrs. Lidija Bradara and Mr. Igor Stojanović, will be more than ready to schedule a new session, at which they will appoint the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are determined to lead the Federation with our coalition partners on a reform path for the benefit of the citizens.”
He points out “how Bakir Izetbegović knows very well that he, unlike some politicians, stands behind what he promises and signs.”
“The SDP has opted for partners in the government and any further discussion about the establishment of a new coalition, in which the SDP would also be, is an unnecessary waste of precious time,” Nikšić concluded.
